Pakistan International Gems and Jewellery Exhibition (PIGJE) 2012 was one of the major contributors in the development of Business to Business linkages between local and international dealers, traders and institutions.
There was a considerable number of foreign buyers and trade bodies/associations from India, UAE, UK, Sri Lanka, USA, Hong Kong and France visited the event and built linkages with local dealer and traders.
A twenty member delegation from Gems and Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) of India attended the event. A delegation of GJEPC including their Vice Chairman and other members of the top management held a meeting with the officials of PGJDC including Chairperson, CEO and Director Mr. Abdul Jabbar. Avenues of mutual collaboration and methodologies to increase inter-country trade were discussed during the meeting. Collaboration in technology improvement and skill enhancement in order to increase the quality of finished product were also discussed during the meeting.
Meetings were also setup between people representing Pakistan’s Gem & Jewellery sector and GJEPC. Concerns pertaining to inter-country trade and other issues including improvement in the quality of finished product were discussed during these meetings.
Apart from the B2B linkages developed by the exhibitors with international delegations/visitors, PGJDC also held productive meeting for the development of the Gems & Jewellery sector/industry Mr. Mohamed Imtizam, Vice Chairman Sri Lanka Gem and Jewellery Association.
A delegation from Hong Kong, one of the hubs of international Gems & Jewellery trade, also visited the event. Dr. Ellen Lau, representing the trader and dealers of Hong Kong, had a detailed meeting about the growth of trade between the two countries and how Pakistan’s industry can prosper with the technological help from the institutes and traders of Hong Kong.
One of the main highlights of the event was the seminar conducted by the renowned speaker of the Gems & Jewellery sector Mr. Jean Claude Michelou – Vice President International Colored Gemstone Association (ICA), where he along with other experts shared experiences, ideas and vision with the Pakistani sector.
